The Role of Hypnotherapist

A hypnotherapist explores a patients negative thoughts to build up a profile of their problem. A problem can usually be broken down into a several specific areas, which hypnotherapist will need to design a specific hypnosis session for each. These session are then spread over several weeks of treatment for the patient. For this reason a hypnotherapist needs to be good at hypnosis and as a therapist.

A good hypnotherapsis should also have good understanding of people, a desire to see their circumstances improve, good organisation and communication skills in general, and empathy with their patient.

Previous knowledge in neurological, psychological and physiological issues is also helpful.

The hypnotherapist is required to relax the patient during the hypnosis session. Therefore, it is important that the patient feels completely comfortable with the hypnotherapist they have chosen for treatment.
